Honoring the Past, Preserving the Future
Mobile Bay has long been an important harbor for the Gulf Coast's maritime history - a gateway of commerce, culture, and coastal beauty. Yet today, her shores are eroding, her waters are clouded, and her ecosystems are at risk. The Legacy Gala unites us in a shared mission to protect and restore the Western Shore of Mobile Bay, ensuring our coast will prosper for generations to come.

Saving Our Shorelines
Coastal erosion is plaguing the western shore of Mobile Bay, but we have an amazing opportunity to change that. The Pocket Beach Pilot Program will be the first step along the Peninsula coast to implement "living shorelines", an incredible feat of nature-based engineering that will restore and protect our waterfront. We need your help to make it happen.

An American Icon
The S.S. United States is more than a ship. She is a national treasure, a world record holder, and a symbol of American innovation and pride. This winter she will be honored for one unforgettable night before her final voyage to become the worlds largest artificial reef

The Legacy Gala
This black-tie affair will feature an acclaimed maritime historian sharing the ship’s remarkable story, a curated dinner inspired by ocean liner menus, live Gulf Coast musicians, and hand shucked oysters straight from Mobile Bay.
Every dollar raised will directly fund the Western Shore Management Plan, transforming our waterfront into a resilient, accessible, and environmentally responsible asset for Mobile’s future. Join us in restoring Mobile Bay.
The Peninsula of Mobile is currently accepting sponsorships and in-kind donations for this elegant evening of charity.
If you have any questions or wish to join our efforts to protect the Western Shore,

In recognition of the S.S. United States' lasting place in maritime history, 10% of the funds raised will be contributed to the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf, ensuring that the stories of our nation’s seafaring past continue to inspire future generations.
